Episode Summary Re-cap
Learn solutions to improve your gut health naturallyDr. Candace Pert was a trailblazer in immunology and merging science and mind-body medicine. In the 1980’s Candace Pert created Peptide T for AIDS immunology with Dr. Judy Mikovits, 30-year science veteran and today’s guest. Discover how neuropeptides affect your brain health, and immunity. Find out why gut health determines the health of the rest of your body. Special Guest: Judy Mikovits, PhD
Judy A. Mikovits, PhD has focused her life as a research scientist on curing cancer to honor her grandfather who died of cancer when she was a teenager. Dr. Mikovits earned her BA from University of Virginia and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from George Washington University. In her 35-year quest to understand and treat chronic diseases, she has studied immunology, natural products chemistry, epigenetics, virology and drug development.
In just over twenty years she rose from an entry-level lab technician to become director of the lab of Antiviral Drug Mechanisms at the National Cancer Institute before leaving to direct the Cancer Biology program at EpiGenX Pharmaceuticals in Santa Barbara, California where she had met and married David Nolde in 2000.
There in 2006, she became attracted to the plight of patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Autism. In only five years she developed the first neuroimmune institute from a concept to a reality and is primarily responsible for demonstrating the relationship between immune based inflammation and these diseases. She has published over 50 scientific papers and the book, Plague.
Dr. Judy A. Mikovits founded MARC, Inc. with her collaborator Dr. Frank Ruscetti.

The Molecules of Emotion are Neuropeptides
Neuropeptides are molecules or specialized proteins that act as messengers of emotion and communicate with the immune system. In the 1970’s, Dr. Candace Pert, a trailblazer in science, found evidence that these neuropeptides were not just in the brain, as everyone thought, but spread throughout the body. In this way, she was able to scientifically prove there was a mind-body connection.
Disease Has an Energy and Health Has an Energy
Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, said that “all disease begins in the gut.” This makes sense when you learn that 50% of the neurons and 70% of the immune system are in the gut. The neurons and immune system (or mind and body) communicate through molecules called neuropeptides.
If you think about this, you can begin to recognize that there are different energies or molecules of emotion (neuropeptides) for health and disease, which communicate with the body. In other words, disease has one type of energy and health has another. What if you could modulate or change that energy? In science, this is called neuroimmune modulation. It basically involves created a synthetic amion acid chain (neuropeptide) that blocks the destructive action of a pathogen, turning off the harmful energy of disease.
In 1986, Dr. Pert got the idea to create a specific neuropeptide for HIV to block the virus, called Peptide T. She asked Dr. Ruscetti and Dr. Mikovits to do experiments on Peptide T and their experiments were successful. Unfortunately, even though Peptide T worked and would have been a cost-effective solution for HIV, the politics of profit won out and Peptide T was not made available. To learn more about this, watch the movie, The Dallas Buyers Club (for which Matthew McConaughey won an Oscar), which dramatizes how effective HIV treatments were not made available to people who needed them.
The Hidden Politics of Disease
In the pursuit of immunology and cures, many scientists worked hard to find solutions. In 2009, Dr. Mikovits’ research revealed that disease-causing retroviruses and toxins were making their way into vaccines. The vaccines, meant to educate our immune systems to be healthy, were instead, teaching our immune systems about the energy of disease.
Between birth to age 18, there are 83 vaccines given. This means that at key times before the immune system is fully developed and before the brain is developed, the energetics of disease are injected into children. The immune system is being modulated with disease, instead of being allowed to learn the energetics of health.
Solutions to Heal Your Gut & Boost Your Immunity
Foods can help us by returning the energetics of health back into our bodies. Dr. Judy says it’s like having a kind of Peptide T to help re-educate our immune systems.
These healing and natural foods can help support your mind-body health. Overall, these suggestions are based on how our grandparents lived and ate. Going back to the way things were done before the proliferation of processed food and fast foods is a great way to support your health and immune system.

#4 Organic or Non-GMO foods – these foods are sprayed with the carcinogenic herbicide, glyphosate, which changes the energetics of the plant.
#6 Filtered Water or spring water
#7 Healing Herbs – herbs like milk thistle and skullcap are excellent for healing and detoxifying your liver.
#8 Borax – Excellent for laundry, cleaning the house, healing baths, and more. Add 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup borax to your bath to protect your body from fluoride and chlorine; and to help with detox, inflammation, and arthritis.
#9 Manage stress – stress kills good bacteria and can be an epigenetic switch, triggering illness and disease. Meditation, exercise, plenty of sleep and other stress reducing activities are very helpful.
#10 Choose organic or grass/pasture fed animal protein eating their native diet (antibiotic and hormone free)
#13 Affirmations and Positive Thoughts Whenever You Can – changing your thoughts and thinking positive is so helpful and creates a healing energetic for your body. However, the energetics of disease may have gotten to a point where it’s very difficult to maintain positive emotions. This is where #14 becomes critical.
#14 Support Each Other – It’s more important than ever to support one another today as people do their best to heal from chronic conditions and disease, particularly those created by retroviruses. These folks may have been through everything to try to heal, been accused of being a hypochondriac and have lost their health and vitality. They may be angry, or feel betrayed by the food system and medical system. It may be hard for them to stay positive. This is where it’s up to us to be the love and bring the love. In these cases, we can be a healing energetic for others. We can teach without judgment, share food, be a shoulder to cry on, hold space for one another, listen, offer support, and connect each other to groups that help to find solutions. If there is ever a time we need this form of healing, it’s now. Follow Dr. Judy’s Facebook page and website to find resources, events, information, and like-minded people to support you on your healing journey.

#4 GMO Foods
#5 Conventional animal protein (injected with hormones, antibiotics, and eating a diet that is not their native diet)
#6 Tap water (often contains toxic fluoride, chlorine and other additives to clean the water)
#7 EMFs (electromagnetic fields)
