Judy A. Mikovits, PhD has focused her life as a research scientist on curing cancer to honor her grandfather who died of cancer when she was a teenager. Dr. Mikovits earned her BA from University of Virginia and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from George Washington University. In her 35-year quest to understand and treat chronic diseases, she has studied immunology, natural products chemistry, epigenetics, virology and drug development.

In just over twenty years she rose from an entry-level lab technician to become director of the lab of Antiviral Drug Mechanisms at the National Cancer Institute before leaving to direct the Cancer Biology program at EpiGenX Pharmaceuticals in Santa Barbara, California where she had met and married David Nolde in 2000.

There in 2006, she became attracted to the plight of patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Autism. In only five years she developed the first neuroimmune institute from a concept to a reality and is primarily responsible for demonstrating the relationship between immune based inflammation and these diseases. She has published over 50 scientific papers and the book, Plague.

What is the Immune System and How Does It Work?

Your immune system is not a single entity. Think of your immune system as an entire country’s defense system: the military, intelligence units, radar detection systems, and all agencies for rapidly detecting danger. Your immune system has to quickly determine who is our ally and who is our enemy.

50% of the neurons and 70% of the immune system are in the gut. The neurons and immune system are our mind-body connection. (or mind and body). So your immune system and neurons are inextricably connected from the time you are born.

Your immune system is different in different parts of your body. Your skin, organs, eyes, heart – they all have to be protected by your immune system, so it’s constantly sifting through every aspect of your environment to detect danger.

Most of your immunity is in your gastrointestinal tract because it’s your first line of defense.

If 70% of your immune system is in your gut and the environment is full of toxins, guess what happens? The enemy goes after the biggest and most important part of your immune system…your gut. This is why psychological symptoms, like anxiety, depression, brain fog, Alzheimer’s, dementia and more begin in the gut. This is why there is a greater focus on neuroimmune – or gut-brain and brain-body — health.

What are the Energetics of Disease?

These are energies that affect our immune system in a negative way. If there are too many of these “energies of disease” building up, it can jam the systems of communication in your body.

Much of these energies of disease happen when humans mess with nature, creating something that is not natural and not well received by the human body:

#1. – The Ozone Layer

The ozone layer is an oxygen-charged system that has been damaged over time due to pollution, environmental toxins and heavy metals. The damage to the ozone layer contributes to oxidative stress from charged energy bombarding our immune system.

#2. – Vaccines

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a list of ingredients in vaccines that includes formaldehyde, aluminum hydroxide, detergent, antibiotics, yeast protein, calf serum (cow blood), bovine protein, viral monkey kidney cells (carries monkey immune deficiency virus) and antigens. As these are injected into your immune system, it’s a danger system to all of your cells. Between the ages of conception to 3 years old before the immune system is fully formed, it does not know how to distinguish the difference between self and other. In this case, the immune system can become compromised to the point where it does not understand the difference between disease and health.

New studies show that when you bypass the skin and gut and directly injecting vaccines, you are missing your frontline military defense and hitting the body all at once, which can overwhelm the immune system.

#3. – Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

Food that has been genetically modified is made from Roundup ready seeds that have been changed to withstand the toxic herbicide, glyphosate (especially corn, soy, cotton and canola). The goal is to increase the yield of the crops. Genetically modifying foods changes the energy of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which then changes the energy of the expressed nucleic acid (RNA). Glyphosate is not only a potential carcinogen, it also negatively impacts collagen – the most abundant protein in your body that is in your hair, skin, nails, teeth, bones, digestive organs, lymph, heart and eyes.

#4. – Electromagnetic Fields

Electronics, WiFi, cordless phones, cell phones, microwaves, and power lines create electromagnetic fields that create stress on the body.

What Can You Do to Support Your Immune System?

#1. –  Turn Off the Noise and Listen

The first thing to recognize is not to scare yourself when it comes to your immunity! One of our callers asked a great question about whether constant negative thinking can affect your immune system and health. Dr. Judy’s great advice is to remember to turn off the noise of your thoughts. You can do this through meditation, going out into nature, feeling the sun on your skin.

In Native American medicine, a big part of your health is to look at unfulfilled desires of the soul. Instead of fearing what could happen to your health, trust that if you are having uncomfortable symptoms, it’s time to listen to your body and life. To listen, take time to stop the noise, still your mind, and drop your attention into your body. Ask yourself what you came here to do. Listen for the answer. If you have unfulfilled desires of the soul, your body or life may be giving you a giant nudge through symptoms to move toward living your life according to what you came here to do. While this may feel challenging, you may find that listening and following your heart brings you more joy and health. And like I did, you may find symptoms resolving.
