How did I get here?

The Bone Broth Secret by Louise Hay and Heather Dane19 years ago, while my career was soaring, I hired a coach. My life was incredibly successful, but my health was taking a hit. I had severe digestive pain, depression and bulimia. There was a whole host of other health symptoms, as you can imagine, after a 16-year bout with chronic bulimia.

I didn’t tell my doctors, who diagnosed me in excellent health. Nor did I tell my friends or family.

What I did do, over two decades, is use all my skills and training to research. I researched the natural health and spiritual field. I researched the medical field. I worked with masters in the field whose names you’d recognize and got a lot of certifications along the way.

I researched…and then I researched some more.
I applied the same “work hard” approach to healing my body and life that I applied to my career. Then one day, it finally hit me. It’s time to relax around all of this, to create balance and to enjoy my life more. My coach helped me reorganize all of my thoughts, priorities and habits and during this time, miraculous people came into my life that showed me another way.

My life in the kitchen is different today. I work less and play more, yet my success is much greater than it ever was. I’ve learned to nurture my body with delicious foods and love the time I invest in myself while doing it. I connect with a community of health-minded friends who delight in healthy gourmet foods. I love more, I laugh more and I am more relaxed through even the most challenging times in life.

Everything is Thoughts and Food

Heather DaneIn the kitchen, I learned a principle that best-selling author, Louise Hay, has taught for years – “everything is thoughts and food.” Food is how we fuel our bodies and give it what we need to feel our best. Touching whole foods brought me closer to nature and sharing healthy gourmet meals brought me closer to a group of health-minded, life-loving people. Food is how we connect. It’s how we deeply nourish. And it better taste good!

Because life is meant to be good. Good, healthy food can prime your body to feel balanced and produce calming, self-esteem enhancing, life-loving hormones. Food is not all of life, but it’s the basis of life. So getting into the kitchen was my path to learning to make rocking, good food that is fast, easy and delicious.

With my healthier body and mind, I learned to trust life, to believe in myself and to listen deeply to my body.

And I’ve learned how to support others in achieving their best health and a beautiful, delicious life.

I am passionate about supporting people in achieving balance, natural health and a truly joyful experience in life. You don’t have to grit your teeth and get through the tough times, because I want to show you how to love life, even when the chips appear to be down.

I believe…

  • You can have it all, but you don’t have to do it all.
  • Life can be serious, but it’s got to be fun!
  • There is a way to take time out for yourself and still see great progress
  • You can change the way you think and the way you feel
  • You can invite more miracles into your life
  • Achieving your dreams is easier than you think
  • You can heal naturally from addictions, mood issues and chronic health conditions
  • There is such a thing as healthy gourmet!
  • You have time for more than you think
  • What you eat is a critical key to your success

Education, Expertise and Certifications

I have my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in nutrition from the University of Vermont, where I discovered that business and health do mix!

I later earned a Master’s Degree in Human Performance Improvement & Systems Thinking from The Pennsylvania State University, where I learned to diagnose the root cause of system-wide problems in teams, processes and technology within large corporations. Little did I know at the time that my natural skill for systems thinking would be easily transferable to holistic health and lifestyle rehabilitation.

I received my professional coach certification from the International Coach Academy, where I realized that walking my talk in creating the life of my dreams was an important foundation to supporting others in achieving theirs.

I received my Certified Body Ecologist training from Donna Gates, health visionary & author of The Body Ecology Diet. I also studied with the Weston A. Price Foundation and principles of the Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS), along with the raw food diet, the macrobiotic diet, the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and Paleo diet. Here I learned a non-dogmatic, food as medicine approach to repair the body from addiction, digestive disorders, autism, cancer, chronic fatigue, depression, MS and other immune-related disorders.

I received my Ashtanga Yoga Teacher training from David Swenson and my Sivananda Yoga Teacher Certification, where I learned the power of quieting the mind, focusing on breath and accepting where you are.

I have my certification in The LifeLine Technique (TM) from Dr. Darren Weissman and have studied energy medicine with Donna Eden and the Emotional Freedom Technique with Dale Teplitz. It is through energy work that I’ve seen profound, yet gentle transformations.

And among all of my spiritual teachers and friends, I have learned how to trust life from Louise Hay, author of the best-seller, You Can Heal Your Life. I am grateful most of all for this deep life lesson.
